PB Pertacami Leads Indonesia to 7 Medals at Asian MMA Championship 2026, Securing Spots for Asian Games and AIMAG

Jakarta, May 2026 — The Executive Board of the Indonesian Mixed Martial Arts Association (PB Pertacami) recorded a major milestone on the international stage after the Indonesian Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) National Team successfully brought home seven medals from two Asian championships held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. This achievement secures Indonesia's spot in two of Asia’s largest multi-sport events: the 2026 Asian Games in Japan and the 2026 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games (AIMAG) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The success was achieved through the national team's participation in the 2nd AMMA Youth Championship 2026, held on May 18–20, 2026, and the 4th AMMA Championship 2026 on May 22–24, 2026. Both tournaments are crucial fixtures on the Asian MMA competition calendar and served as a proving ground for the development of Indonesian athletes under the auspices of PB Pertacami.

Out of the total medal haul, Indonesia brought home one gold, one silver, and five bronze medals, won by both junior and senior athletes in the Modern MMA and Traditional MMA categories.

Medal Breakdown

• Gold Medal: Awarded to Novia Pesik in the Women's 49 kg Modern MMA category, following her consistent performance throughout the tournament and significant progress in both technique and match strategy.
• Silver Medal: Secured by Lukas Oliver Lubis Sedlak in the Men's U18 65 kg Traditional MMA category, showcasing the competitiveness of Indonesia's young athletes at the Asian level.

The five bronze medals were contributed by:

• Manayra Maritza Hersianti Siagian — Women's U18 50 kg Modern MMA
• Vallensia Fahira Hotmauli — Women's 54 kg Modern MMA
• Dwi Ani Retno Wulan — Women's 54 kg Traditional MMA
• Panca Julian Saputra — Men's 60 kg Traditional MMA
• Ananda Wahyu Setyo Prabowo — Men's 77 kg Traditional MMA

The General Chairman of PB Pertacami, Tommy Paulus Hermawan, expressed his deep appreciation for the hard work of all athletes, coaches, and officials who went through the competition with high discipline and a strong spirit to represent Indonesia internationally.

"We are grateful for the results achieved by the national team in Uzbekistan. The athletes showed positive development in terms of physical readiness, fight endurance, and increasingly mature technical quality. These results indicate that our athlete development program is on the right track," Tommy said.

According to Tommy, the achievements in Uzbekistan should not be viewed merely as competitive results, but rather as part of a larger process to build a sustainable and competitive Indonesian MMA development ecosystem at the Asian level.PB Pertacami notes that the progress of Indonesian athletes looks highly promising, particularly in technical transitions from striking to grappling, controlling the tempo of the match, decision-making during bouts, and the ability to adapt against opponents from various countries.

Strategic Milestone for Multi-Event Agenda

Beyond the medal tally, the 4th AMMA Championship 2026 held strategic importance as it served as the final qualification round for the 2026 Asian Games in Japan and the 2026 AIMAG in Riyadh. With the results obtained in Uzbekistan, Indonesia has officially secured its path to both major multi-sport events.

This success also marks a pivotal momentum for the growth of national MMA, establishing Indonesia as one of the Southeast Asian countries capable of competing at the top tier of Asian competitions, while demonstrating a consistent increase in performance over recent years.

Upon arriving back in Indonesia, the contingent was welcomed by the board members of PB Pertacami at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport as a form of appreciation for their dedication throughout the tournament.

Moving forward, PB Pertacami will utilize the outcomes from Uzbekistan for evaluation and as a baseline to design future international programs. This includes preparations for the 2026 Asian Games, AIMAG 2026, the GAMMA Continental Championships, and the 2026 GAMMA World Championships.

With a focus on long-term development, a sport-science approach, and consistent competition, PB Pertacami remains optimistic that Indonesia has a strong chance to be increasingly recognized as a rising powerhouse in amateur MMA across Asia.
