Korea MMA Federation Confirms AMMA Associate Member Certification

The Korea MMA Federation has confirmed that it has received an Associate Member Certificate from the Asian Mixed Martial Arts Association (AMMA), the continental governing body for mixed martial arts in Asia.

The certification was presented by AMMA President Gordon Tang, marking an important step in the Korea MMA Federation’s continued engagement with the Asian MMA community and its efforts to strengthen Korea’s position within the sport’s regional governance structure.

During discussions with AMMA representatives, Park Pyeong-hwa, Senior Vice President of the Korea MMA Federation, outlined the federation’s activities since attending AMMA’s founding general assembly in 2022. These activities included participation in international championships, referee seminars, and other regional development programs.

AMMA Secretary General Galastien Tan reaffirmed that, in accordance with AMMA’s statutes, full membership is granted to organizations officially affiliated with their respective National Olympic Committees. Until each country’s representative body is confirmed through its national sport structure, AMMA will continue to cooperate with associate member organizations based on the principles of neutrality and fairness.

Jeon Yong-jae, Secretary General of the Korea MMA Federation, stated that the federation is both the sole full member organization of GAMMA in Korea and an associate member of AMMA. He added that the federation will continue working to meet the remaining institutional requirements, including affiliation with the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee, in order to contribute further to the development of mixed martial arts in Korea.

At present, two Korean MMA organizations have been recognized as AMMA associate members: the Korea MMA Federation and the Korea MMA Association. Both organizations have applied for affiliation with the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee, which may select one organization or decide not to approve either.

The Korea MMA Federation stated that it will continue to build international trust, strengthen its governance structure, and support the long-term development of MMA in Korea and across Asia.
